As the DyMiCo water purification system keeps micro organisms alive, it is especially suitable for culturing plankton. One use of the system, for example, is to culture copepods as food animals for fish larvae. While traditional methods of fish aquaculture mainly use brine shrimp and rotifers as a food source, EcoDeco puts its efforts into developing copepod culture techniques for commercial purposes. Scientific research shows that feeding copepods results in higher quality fish fry than feeding other forms of fish food.

Currently EcoDeco, together with Blue Linked and the non-profit Stichting Zeeschelp, are working on a test set-up for the culture of copepods using the DyMiCo water purification system. The results of our efforts will appear here shortly.
